The Shine Micro RadarPlus Long Range Dual AIS Receiver (SN 148) was deployed on 2016-01-26 at Ocean Networks Canada. Ocean Networks Canada operates the world-leading cabled ocean observatories for the advancement of science and the benefit of Canada. These observatories collect data on physical, chemical, biological, and geological aspects of the ocean over long time periods, supporting research on complex Earth processes in ways not previously possible. This device is a Automatic Identification Systems Receiver. Land-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers provide data that track large ships and other marine vessels within range of the receiver. The data are used to monitor, understand and mitigate the impacts of marine shipping activities. It was deployed on a FIXED platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Network Canada's Oceans 2.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
